Need some guidance on this one and maybe I'm just a little nuts for doing this swap in the first place. I took a 94 318ic and swapped in a 99 M3 drivetrain and wiring harness. The engine and ECU is from a sedan as is the steering column and key. The harness is from a cab and I have both inside computers. I've wired it back up but not all the inside bits are hooked up but the dash pod, engine harness, relays and main power feeds are. I turn it over and nothing but a check control light comes on. I've swapped in both the sedan and the cab interior ECU thinking it was a key link problem but no luck
How sensitive are these things to having absolutely everything tied up and neatly plugged together just to get it to turn over. My Pantera and my Porsche's are a little more forgiving - :help

thanks

since u have replaced ur keys and ur steering wheel then it wont turn on, the lights turns on and ur dash as well but the engine wont turn... the whole car needs to be reprogramed :D for the keys and also it doesnt matter if u have changed the computers also. When I got my car, the steering wheel key was broken. After i found a steering wheel with keys and the computer for the steering wheel i installed it and they car wouldnt start up at all the lights came on and also with the dash but the car didnt. I took it to a shop and he reprogramed my computer and the keys I had to the steering wheel. Hope this helps
