I'm seriously considering taking my 2001 540i (auto) to Dinan for an S or S1 program. Wondering if anyone out there has already done so and their thoughts. Any regrets? Exhaust noise? Gas mileage changes? Ride changes?
Thanks.

I dont quite know what mine has....I have 2001 540i 6spd with Dinan Exhaust, Intake and Reprogramming.......Its awesome. The exhaust is perfect...only hear it when you start...the 1st puff of air out of it draws some attention. Then you cant hear it until you accelerate or decelerate. Sometimes its non existant.....but its almost always there in the background reminding you and your occupants that it aint no normal ride. 1st gear is a bit more peppy....Dinan has done an awesome job.

Oh the rev limit is pushed out....not sure how high up now....I have touched redline, and it have any issue.

Fuel Economy....well, I havent paid attention:).

Hope this helps.

I think I'm leaning more toward the Dinan S program ($3,145) which specifically includes:

1) High flow cold air intake w/ required Stage 2 engine software
2) free flow exhaust
3) performance software for auto transmission.
4) Front strut tower brace

any input greatly appreciated. Thx!

what do you think makes the cai, which cost less than 100 to do yourself w/a nice heat shield, 2 chip, an exhuast, and a tower brace cost almost 3500...thats too expensive, im sure its nice shit, but come on

Yeah, it's a bit pricey but the car only has 25,000 miles and Dinan will match the rest of the manufacturer's warranty.

:rock Update!!!

I was feeling the flow the other day and the power came on real smooth and seductive..... enough that I kept my foot on the gas too long in 2 gear without paying attention to the r's....The revs got to 6300rpm in no time. I seriously need a shift light as I dont want to redline my car. But basically, with the Dinan Stg 2 program has pushed the redline out...I know for sure 6300rpm is not it, may be 6500, or 7000? I dont know if I want to find out. Does anyone know? Can the 4.4 V8 handle that kind of revs reliabily?

dinan's super expensive...but you get what you pay for. all that stuff is really high quality.

as for me, i'm a student with a part-time job, so dinan is a little beyond my price range especially since get less expensive solutions are available.

if you have the cash though, go for it! :D

oh and gtman, i wouldn't worry if you bounce off the rev limiter once or twice, your engine can probably take it.
