Hey guys,

My '03 525i is approaching 70k miles, and the brakes are feeling a bit light. I'm sure the pads are close to being gone, but what should I look for in the rotors? What drives the decision to get new ones versus keeping the old ones in terms of vehicle safety? What am I looking for in particular in the condition of the rotors to say, "these are okay" versus "these are scrap"?

This isn't an urgent issue, but I can imagine when I take my car in to the "stealer" for an oil change, I'm going to get some sort of run-around.

get a good ceramic carbon pad and if you want the best braking get at least a slotted rotor... EBC makes amazing pads.... if you are only driving on the street, look at their red pads... as for rotors, they dimpled and slotted which are expensive, but the ultimax rotors from them are just slotted and work great too
