I Have a 95 525I .. When The car hits 55 mph I get a horrible Wobble in the steering wheel. I have had all 4 wheels balanced. When this didn't work I bought 2 new tires thinking a belt had shifted.. Still have the Wobble.. When I hit 65 mph it goes away. Now I've been told I need wheel spacers because I have E39 wheels on an E34.. Is this correct? I've had the same wheels on the car for the past 2 years that i've owned it and this problem just started about 2 months ago.. HELP!!!!

did you have the wheels balanced with the little weights? or did you get them aligned? try a wheel alignment.

Check the bushings up front. This is a common issue with E34s. Mine would do it too.

get yourself rings in 74x72.5x10mm,i had the same problem and rings sorted out that wobble they are the cheepest option to start with so go from there!

I had the front end aligned today and problem still exists.. I just purchased some Hub Centrc Rings from ebay.. Hope this solves the problem.. I'll let you know how it goes..

If it was the rims not being the right dimensions I would think that it would have happened in the 2 years they were on before now. I still think it is the bushings, or maybe another suspension part. But I could be wrong. Best of luck with it.

i agree with you but on other side i know few people that have driven on rims from e39 for some time without any problem so rings are the cheapest option to try,from there go to tires;maybe they are the problem!if the tires are not evenly worn out they could be the couse.of course you need to check the rims also maybe they are not in best shape if you hit somekind of bump or something,then go for suspension checkup and give us feedback on problem so other people know for the future cases!:thumbs

I have an E39 which had really bad steering judder at 45mph, it turned out to be a split rim on the inside of my wheel. I very much doubt spacing is this issue unless the judder has been there as long as you've had the wheels, perhaps one is split or has gone egg shape? You could try swapping the front wheels for the back (assuming they're not split) see if that changes it, or alternating the spare wheel for one wheel at a time to see if it stops. All cheap and easy tests you can do yourself to rule it out...
