First off, let me appologize for my stupid question that has probably been asked by many in the past.
Has anyone ever tried to cram one of these into any 3 or 5 series? Reason i ask is that they seem to be sold for dirt now, and its... well... a v12. I know it'll have a negative imact on handleing and the suspension will need upgradeing and all that, but can it be done with a mix of stock parts, without serious welding(mounts)?

I've don't know about anyone that has done it, but BMW themselves have played with things like that before.
They put a M73 (v12) in an X5, and it was fully functional. It was just a project for some guys with BMW, but I've never seen it.
I've heard of a M62 put into a Z3, or maybe it was a Z4. The Z4 has a lot of room in the engine bay....

Personally, I'd rather have a v8 over the v12. The m70 and m73 v12's are not that powerful for their size, and the technology is lacking as well. They are a major pain and expense if they need work done. Twin distributors, and plug wires......no thanks.
The new generation v12, however, is another animal.

I know maintanance is gonna be a bitch, but i called a local wrecking yard and they are sellings the whole thing with the 4 spd auto(perhaps a 5 spd from another engine will fit), all the accessories, the harness, and the ecu for ~$1400. IIRC the v12 is 300 hp and ~350 ft lbs, which im sure would put the 3 series easly into the e46 m3 range in terms of acceleration.

Someone has to have attempted this before.
