is there anyway i can disable the ABS. mine goes off whenever i hit the brakes at low speeds and even if there is an easy way to fix it i dont really care. i would just pull the fuse but the same fuse runs other important things that i want to work. any ideas?

Take the relay out from under the dash.

its not under the dash its in the engine bay. Its right infront/under the cruise control unit.

Please take the advise and ONLY take this out if you are expert at doing dirt rally or stunt driving. Otherwise it will seriously detrement your street driving and rip up your tires baddly.

Sure is. If you break the solder when you incorrectly jump your car your abs light illuminates and this is the relay. remove it and it doesn't work.

edit: Fox what you are talking about is the Hydraulic unit not the ABS control unit which is
Bentley table w, Other electrical component locations
ABS control unit Beneath drivers's side of instrument panel

And please with out abs the brakes work just like a non abs equipped car. Pump the brakes so you don't lock them but they work jsut fine without ABS. This board needs some knowledge.

The e30 brakes lock incredibly easy. I do stunt driving and I take out my abs often, saying pump the brakes is far easier said than done.

On my car and every other e30 ive ever worked on the abs relay is under the cruise control.

One brake or multiple sides? I have owned 5 e30's of various degrees and the cars with out ABS do not seem prone to lock up early nor did my 87 US spec 325iS which comes standard with ABS that was not functioning.

I had never owned a car with ABS except my wife's car, which I hardly drive. Until I bought the US spec car, so I guess that I am used to threshold braking on non ABS equipped cars then.

yeah no way disabling ABS has any affect on regular driving; only when the brakes actually lock up. i've really come to hate ABS only because I car i've ever owned that was equiped with ABS functioned exactly the same. the ABS rarely worked, and if it did, the peddle just dropped to floor and i losted about 90 percent of my braking capability.

about locking brakes up, i have never been able to lock my breaks up on dry pavement. doesn't make sense; you think with brand new brake pads and rotor, with the brakes bled properly it would be easy to do. but the pedal always feels mushy instead of firm. must be the master cylinder
