There is another coolent temp sensor--the one thats used by the ecu to feed it infor is located at the back of the engine--under the intake manifold--it's hard to get to.
You will need to remove the cabin air filter and duct work on the drivers side and then you will need a mirror and a flashlight to find the temps sensor--it sets high under the intake back there. While back there you should also check the vac hose's that are there also, feel them around a little--if your hand looks black afterwards you need to change them for new one's--these hose's break and cause all sorts of vacuum problems--people miss these because they can't readily see them.
That is the sensor and I was able to replace it. It is almost like they were trying to hide the thing. Thank you for your post. After 10 months of the car on jack stands, it is back on the road. Next month, it is the brakes!

try and discribe what you went through in replacing that sensor. Were you able to remove and replace the sensor without removing the intake manifold?
It was not too bad, once you found the thing. When I removed the climate control assembly vent, it made a big diffence in access. I did break off one side of the clip where the wires plug into the sensor (tough to get the clip off). Also, the old sensor and the new sensor were differnet mm sizes. The old was 20mm and the new was 17mm. I lost some fluid, but not bad. The only taht worried me was bleeding the system of any air after I replaced the sensor. I had the front up on jack stands because I was replacing the radiator. So, I did a normal bleed while it was in the air and have not had any problems.
