Hello, I am looking to buy a 93 or better 325 is very soon and was just wondering about some of the interior options. I've driven older 80's 3 series and newer E46's but never a E36. I noticed (from pictures) the E36 has a computer console above the cigarette lighter. What kind of stuff does it display or do? Also, does the car have climate control? Heated side view mirrors? what are some of the other interesting options? thanks.

P.S. Is bmw ownership very costly? parts, repairs, maintenence, etc... anything else i should know before i get in over my head? (Im quite young and work for low wage) Thanks for the info guys.

Well i drive a 93 325is with 80k miles and no major problems yet. I have heated seats, climate control, sunroof, 6 cd changer, fully power adjustable seats. My OBC, shows 2 consumptions, temp, fuel range, check control, timer, ETA stat thingy, avg speed, there also alot of hidden commands for it. Its a pretty loaded ride for a 93. Somethings to look out for though is the water pump. Check to see if the stock plastic one was upgraded to a non plastic pump. The plastic ones had a tendency to break up and do damage to the engine. Also i think rear shock mounts go bad around 100k miles, flex discs. There are alot of plastic and rubber parts used on these older bmws. Im friends with an owner of a bmw werkshop and when i took my car in after i bought, i only had 2 minor problems, but he said with this year and mileage, hes seen these cars with 4 even 5 times as many problems, so its important to try and take the car to a mechanic before you buy....all i can think of right now..

the 325 OBC displays a good deal of info, or an even greater deal of info, depending on which package was selected. The OBC also displays check control warnings. The 318 has a basic time/temp OBC w/ no CC.

Yea the car seems to have some great options for its age and price. Much better than a 95 civic or golf or other cars in that price range. Thanks for the input.
