Sorry if this thread is in the wrong section but i'm new here.

I have a Compact 318ti sport, 1995 'M'.

Lately every time I pull away in first gear the car really badly jerks as if i let the clutch out really too quick, if i accelerate it jerks REAL bad. When i change gear to 2nd onwards it fine. Any suggestions on what it might be would be aprreciated.

Thanx

Tim

it may be due to a worn guibo (flex disc), or possibly the center support bearing.

moving to e36...
Your talking to a novice here, whats a guibo or centre bearing, are you refering to the clutch?

Thanx

:cheers Just changed out the flex disc in my 92 325i Made the same noise you are describing. Flex disc on the bimmer, is what some would call a universal joint on other cars, is made different but serves the same purpose. Connects the transmission yolk to the drive shaft yolk. On the 92 325i it is a major pain in the butt to change. ie: exhaust and sheilds have to be moved!!
Good Luck!!
