When it is cold outside about (32F or below) my tachometer and fuel gauge malfunction for the first couple of mins while my car is warming up. The tachometer is stuck at 0 and the fuel guage is "ticking" past "empty." Eventually after a couple of minutes as the car is warming up it autocorrects and the tachometer and fuel gauge both display correctly.

Also, when I turn my fan for heat and/or A/C it make a loud noise at first start and eventually winds down as the car warms.

These problems only occur durning the cold weather. I have an 2006 325xi E90

Does anyone have an idea what the underlying issues could be for both of these problems?

Fuel Gauge

Our 2004 E46 had a similar problem with the Fuel Gauge.
I turned out it had a fuel tank sender going bad.
2 problems with that:
1. There are 2 fuel senders, and you can't tell which one is bad
2. The fuel sender that went bad was the one that attached to the fuel pump...expensive

The real bad news is that eventually, the fuel gauge stopped working all together, and the sender shorted out the instrument panel cluster

$2000 later, the car is now for sale. The instrument cluster part is $700.

Take it to the dealer now, it may still be under warranty, as some fuel system parts are covered by the emissions warranty.
