what does the plug look like? I have one that I dont use that could sell you but I'm not sure if the plug is compatable with a 2000 528. If you can take a pic of it then I should be able to tell.

AS FAR AS I KNOW IT IS A SQARE ONE, I'LL TRY TO GET SOME PIC LATER
Thats what i thought, but I wasnt sure. If its a round plug, mine should work.
if its the stock headunit with the OEM wiring, most likely no aftermarket cd changers will work. You may have luck with Alpine CD Changers since alot of OEM bmw audio products are from Alpine.
what have You 528i owners who don't have the oem changer do?
I believe all of the E39s used the Alpine I-bus changer. Also you might find OEM BMW CD changer on eurobuyer.com for very reasonable $395. More Q and A on this subject is available at :

checkout EBAY?.........they sell OEM stuff sometimes way cheap..
you can also get the oem changer from http://www.pacificbmw.com

they are cheaper than if you were to purchase from your dealer
