I can't imagine that they would. CF may be strong, but when it breaks, it doesn't deform like metal does, it shatters, and I would imagine that having a rim shatter on your car would be just about the most dangerous single failure a car could have. Talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen...

I was watching a F1 race the other day, and when one of the cars was coming down the backstretch, his right front suspension just shattered. Sent the car spinning into the gravel (sand?).

I think Josephine said there was a company that is currently developing CF rims but they weren't available for sale yet. I think she also posted some pics of them and they didn't look too good in CF.

like I said before, CF is too brittle to be used exclusively for rims. some ppl use it for driveshafts, but when those break, they tear the shit out of all the parts around them.

Yea carbon aluminum alloy. Its will have a new name. Thats what steel is. Iron and carbon, its only like 4%-10% carbon but a lot lighter and stronger due to the alloy characteristics. They cant make pure carbon wheels, it would be to expensive and to brittle, not to mention not even close to being strong enough. Not sure if youv ever seent them (i live in florida so i have) but the tiles on the space shuttle are pure carbon.
