BMW maintainence costs

i was wondering how high BMW maintainence costs are, and how to convince my parents that a BMW will not be that expensive to maintain. My dad seems to think that some POS japenese car would be better (seeing how they are more reliable) but i want my BIMMER damnit!

btw, they both own volvos, not the cheapest cars to maintain

how can i convince them? Also, what do u guys think of a WRX or a VW GTI VR6 seeing as those are teh alternatives. WRX is prob. a little pricey so it would probabily be a VR6 GTi if not a bimmer. While a VR6 would be fun, as i said before I WANT MY BMW!!!!!

btw, the BMW costs 6500 and the GTi costs 14000. they still think i should get the VW

i drive a 95 328i (euro) and i have just had my inspection 2 service which is the BIGGY!, over here in th UK it only cost me £230. if the car is over four years old it fall into the "PLUS FOUR" scheme which basically means everything is cheaper.....

parts arent always that exspensive..... and there are plenty of good quality aftermarket supliers out there.
mind if looked after they very rarely go wrong.

if you want a stylish, reliable, well put together sports car, then you carnt go wrong with a BMW.
ya as long as you take care of your car it will take care of you :D
well thanks guys.....

it looks like my parents are HELL BENT on me not haveing a BMW of any kind, not even a freking 318 :(

sad for me, i g2g cry now

after i am done crying, i'll begin my search for a GTi. One day, which will be in the nxt few years, if BMW gets back their sense of style perhaps i will purchase one, but the prospect of me aquiring one in the nxt 3 years is glym. Poor me :(

if i do indeed get a VR6, i'll stick around teh forum and continue to express my opinions :)

i g2g cry now....i want my bimmer damnit

but the GTI is growin on me, and it's still german so whatever. just a car, right?

heh i raped a gti the other day  he got a head start and i pulled even on him in 2nd he kept up with me to the middle of third and then he just kept getting farther and farther in my mirror
why dont you get your parents to view this site and thread regarding Bm's etc, it may change there minds??????
Spetsnaz Ops,

Tell your parents that you have access to a site that offers OEM replica parts at 30-50% below regular US prices. And if all of the help that you can get from this forum would you be able to service your own Bimmer at a very limited budget.

If your parents stills say NO way - just remember to book mark Nikis Place as we will be carrying VW parts by Q3.

However - BMW is BMW and for most of us here, is it THE car we want.

Best of luck
heh if his parents read this site their gonna think all bmw owners are drunks/perverts/and speed demons...im a little bit of all 3

Ya know sh*t Fruity.. Spetsnaz forget having your parents look at this site right now..maybe in a few weeks when we get some of our old info back, but not now!! j/k..

Me thinks your parents are having a stereotypical thought on this..'my son is not going to be driving a BMW at 16 yrs old!!'
G
skis right...saying something like "But a '9X 325i is pretty old and really not that flashy. They're one of the safest cars, and they'll last me 300,000. They are very solid cars, and very reliable, and plus a 325 only has 189 horsepower, i dont think that'll be enough to race with" of course, parents will buy that shit, but we all know a 325 will pwnz most shizz out there...and itll look classy while its at it!    :p
Who's paying for it?
uggghhh....they are

but the thing is the GTI would be costing them MORE....14-18k for a used one.....

the bimmer is only 65 frekin hundred (6,500) unless maintainence will cost more than 10k in the next few years it will cost them less

P.S. the only reason they are buying it for me is that the move was on VERY short notice and i NEED to drive by september

I guess a GTI would also be cool...i have been hanging around club18t.com and they seem like nice cars...

Well then, there you go.

It may cost more to insure a BMW than a VW, they may feel a BMW is too much car for you, maintenance can be high on a BMW even if you DIY. They may be willing to spend more upfront in order to save more in the long run. Wich is older, the BMW or the VW?

My opinion - Take the VW, fix it real perty, then sell in two years and get the BMW with the money you will be saving for the BMW (of course I assume you will continue to save money for a BMW aferwards, right?). Maybe you'll be able to afford an M3 instead of a 323/325/318.
insurance is higher on the BM....... over here in the UK the Gti has the higher insurance due to it being a highly stolen car (back in the 80's when yupies where around, ok yar!)
