Ok then folks, I'm back again...Well apparently my trailing arm bush did need doing...BUT....New ish problem...
Recap of problem:
The back drivers side tire area seems to be making ALOT of noise (clunking) when I go over any uneven road and or pot holes etc. It also seems to have a mind of its own and flick out occationally befor re-aligning itself...The new information is that while my mechanic friend had my car in shop, he was prying and banging everything to see if anything was lose or worn, it was only when he got fed up and kicked the back tire...that it made the noise which I had been descibing to him.So in short, if you are facing the tires and kick the right hand side of it (rubber part) it makes the noise a normal tire should make, but when you kick the left side..It makes a very loud hollow clonk noise. Mechanic isn't sure what is causing this. I have rotated back tires to see if this resolves problem...and well it doesn't. So wondering if it is possible for the brake drum or something the tire is mounted to could be warped? It is bolted on tightly but still seems to have play on the left side hence making clonking noise..Please if anyone has experienced this or has any advise can ya let me know as my mechanic never had this problem with previous cars so not sure what to do with it....:help:conf

check your e-brake assembly, most like its not holding to the back plates. Dont wait until your rear wheels lock up while your driving to check it out.

Thanks, I'm starting to think it might be worth getting a newer model now...Seems like the poor old thing is falling apart now... But will mention this to mechanic on Monday..

Also giving props, This was my problem as well. I pulled up the E-brake slightly and drove it over some bumps and the noise was gone. If you haven't already try it Megs, tell me how you got yours fixed.

Thanks everyone loads for the advice from this post and my previous post, I have just found a BMW specialist in Nottingham, who in less then 4 minutes has said he thinks its defo the front rear trailing arm bush thats gone, had a feel round and says that defo his first bet, So it's going in tom morning and fingers crossed this will solve the wretched noise. I will defo keep you guys posted, as from experience, everytime I think something will solve the problem ....within a day its back lol. So fingers crossed everyone this guy will know what he is doing. Will let people know results for future ref... Thanks again folks, didn't feel as stupid since I could go in with you lots words of advice and kinda know what I was talking about lol...One small step for Megan, on Giant leap for woman kind....
