Hey guys, i was wondering i have a 325ia and is there a way to improve launch?
All i get is the brake-torque technique but it wont go higher than 2000rpm.

Is there a way to improve it? like chip or mods or anything? (and dont say auto to tranny swap though haha lol )

The only company that makes software for the transmissions is Dinan (not sure if they have anything for the E36 though) and I just remembered that, but it won't help you getting off the line any faster and it's overpriced for what it is.

Thanks! It's a 528i...nice and slow but I guess it gives people a better chance to look at it LOL.

True, they have it, and it IS overpriced. 199$ hehehehe.

hahahha its not slow at all, its a great car, it is slow compared to ///M but, still for a daily car, its really fast at my point of view, and it has more space than mine.... i wish i had one of these. and the wheels, the paiting, it looks amazing!!!! eibach sport springs? or m5? its auto or manual?

FYI a high stall speed torque converter is good if all you are planning to do is 1/4 mile racing. If you are planning to drive it and want more power, remember significant power increases are very expensive. Stock E36s are not very fast but they do handle. Enjoy the handling. For drag racing many other cars are better suited.

High stall speed converter will allow the engine to reach a higher RPM when brake torquing. This puts the engine in a higher horsepower band so the car will launch harder. Drag cars might have 5-6,000 rpm converters. The down side is that the trans will generate much more heat. As well, because it is "looser" gas mileage will suffer since driving away from a stop sign will require more rpm to get moving. You will notice all new cars have a lock up torque converter so there is no slippage and better gas mileage.

For sure they do handle, i need to get a better suspension for my 325. the stocks i think its not that good for cornering.
Actually im not looking for drag racing, its jsut something to get a better launch to have fun with friends and stuff. I Bet if i could launch at 3.500 it would be a killer launch. any FWD beat my 325ia at launch. Even doing the brake torque thing. RWD should be better than a 1.6Liters FWD.

Where can i find this high stall speed torque converter?

I have no idea if there are any high stall torque converters available. Usually,
people are pulling the auto trans out for a manual. I doubt that the demand is very high. You could always do what my friend did in his fathers 1965 Chev with powerglide auto: Rev the heck out of it in neutral and drop it into gear. He got lots of rubber, then he would throw it back in neutral, rev it some more and drop it back in gear and lay some more rubber. The trans NEVER blew apart! Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED!

Selling your car and getting a manual is probably the least expensive way to go.
A high stall speed converter is only worth a bit in the acceleration dept anyway unless you are making an all out drag car. Then why not get a mustang and save money.
Always look for any vehicle's good points and exploit that. ie BMW turn corners well, do that. Much more fun driving left and right on a track day than just 1/4 mile!
