Can anyone please help, my 2001 330i touring will not go into drive, it will only go as far as neutral, it has the auto box with switch able/ sports/ manual mode option.Is it likely to be a major expense, mileage is approx 125000.

Has the fluid ever been changed? The issue may be a serious one.

It may just be the bowden cable snagging or come adrift, or the selector in the valve control body (inside the box) either way you'll have to raise the car in the air to inspect.

Yes it has FSH, when you press the button it feels like something is loose, thanks for your help

I would say its the bowden cable if it feels loose.
