I just got a new 2003 330ci and I live in an area where there is a lot of stones, pebbles, and other debris on the roads. I've seen these "invisible" nose protection kits from various places. Has anybody had any experience with these? Do they work? Does it have a line across the hood where it comes to an end? Is it difficult to install? I guess this stuff is similar to the chipgaurd that some manufacturers put in the areas around rocker panels and quarter panels behind the rear tires to prevent chipping. It's made by 3M so it should be a good product.

take that off ski, bras look hideous! seriously....a bra detracts more from a cars beauty then stone chips do....but the bmw dealership might sell them because i remember SILVR MW from the planet said he got his at the dealership....but www.bavarianautosport.com sells them

i believe 3M is the leader in invisible bras . however i dunno how good the new ones are. i know the older versions had a tendency to yellow a bit after a while.

there are a bunch of different companies. MIS shield, stoneguard, etc. To get them professionally applied (which i highly highly recommend), you will need $500-$1000 for the full kit (front bumper, side mirrors, hood, fenders).

Is it worth it?
yes.

Why shouldnt you do it yourself and save $200-$300?
Because you dont know what youre doing and even with a heat gun, soapy water, and godly sticker applying skills, youll mess up and get mass bubbles and hate yourself for making your car look like it has herpes.

Do I sell this stuff?
No

Is it just a damn clear vinyl sticker?
No... its a vinyl sticker thats 8-10 times the standard thickness. MIS shield tested to protect up to (i think this is right) 160 mph.

I've heard that the invisible bras are good, but take a VERY long time to install properly.

i think they are worth it. i do not know how long they will last, but it will give you the protection you want from pebbles. i am thinking of putting one on mine, but i would like to see one on another car before putting it on mine.

the bmw dealers do offer this product as well as 3M and bavauto.com.

they last for a very long time. Its definitely worth the money... you dont even have to wax or protect the areas with the bra on it.
My friend has a shop that uses MIS shield. They get 911 turbos, ferraris, bmws, benz's in there all the time.

Thanks for all the info. I just don't want to make a mistake. I'm retentive enough now as it is. My car is Orient Blue and I'm guessing the darker colors will show the edge more. Still thinking about it though.

i have it.. its quite nice. there are small instances of it peeling a bit, but excellent none the less. I do however find that bugs and small rocks do find their way around/inbetween the invisible bra.

bravo.. its a great invention. Here in Florida we have love bugs.. they almost eat your paint.. bleh.. the bra does a great job of blocking them.

here is a pic..
regards
