I love the old 6-series. There's a guy who lives in my area who has his 6 badged as "666" and its a 3.8L stroker with a massive turbocharger on it. Not to mention the entire car is lowered, has some super wide wheels in the rear, the interior's been redone, and the entire car was repainted. Even mild upgrades will bring it back and I'd start looking at wheels and a lowering kit first.

well right now i feel like i need a little something to help my car off the line. ive grown up in the muscle car industry so its tough to compare these two completely different styles of cars, but do you know of anything that could help me in that area?

Unfortunately, these engines don't make big power without some sort of F/I. You could add an exhaust and possibly a chiptune but I've found that these mods might add a nice mid range boost but they don't give you huge power gains. If anything those sort of mods make the car more responsive and smoother.

One of the easiest ways to pep the car up off the line and and to improve low speed responce is to change the rear axle ratio to a higher (numerical) number. The only drawback is that it will cost you in gas mileage at at highway cruising speeds.

Start from the ground up. Your tires are the most important performance part of your car. Then move on to brakes, then suspension, then engine. You will understand your car alot more as you work your way along.

I had an old 95 318, with full racing suspension. I've NEVER drove a better handling car. It was tuned by a BMW track driver and then sold to my brother then me. It was chipped with hi flow exhaust, but it being a 318 never had great power. However once at speed I could out perform a lot of other cars in the corners....

So thats your key, build off of that.
