Hi all this my first post as i am very new to BMW but not new to automotive and working on cars....this just has me thinking how does this happen....

OK...AC blows cold and works (and changes speed) on all speeds of the fan HOWEVER does not blow hard at all no matter what speed meaning fan turned all the way up is just a gentle breeze. Rarely the fan will all of a sudden start blowing as I feel it should at full speed....HARD... and then will slow back down after about 30 seconds. It also sounds like air is sucking or blowing up near the windshield but i do not feel anything coming out up there.

Would this be contributed to a bad bearing in the blower motor slowing it down or something being controlled by the control head.... any ideas or help would be appreciated.:help

I'm also new and have a 01 740iL, my fan speed does seem to vary up at times randomly but it does go through all the fan speeds as it should. It sounds like you have a problem.

mine ended up being the recirculation filters for the ac being so clogged they blocked the air flow through them. it would only start working when the air was pulled from outside....then it would switch back
