I just got a used '95 740i, and I have a question about the operations. Whenever I turn on the front defrosters, the fan is all the way to max, and is subsequently really loud. I was wondering if there is a way to make it so that the defrosters aren't at the maximum fan level, so that I can keep it on, instead of just turning it on and then off and on and off.

Also my passenger side mirror was angling itself down whenever I reversed, like it is suppose to. Then one day it just stopped working. Since I don't know the operations of the car very well, either some setting got changed so that it no longer does that, or the mirror broke in the short amount of time I've been using it. Can somebody let me know if there is indeed a way to stop the mirror from angling down?

Welcome deadseasquirrels! B)

i dont think you can adjust the defroster, you;ll probably get used to it in time, the E46's still operate the same way.

as for the mirror, when you adjust the mirrors on the armrest, or wherever the adjustment dial is, there is a switch to adjust either the left or right side mirror. that switch must be kept on the drivers side in order for the passenger mirror to go down while in reverse.

welcome ..
the defrost is a getting use to kinda thing. as mrM3 said. and the mirrors do all sorts of good stuff. they angle down to give you a better look at what could potentially be there, and also to let you see the parking lines much better.

WAIT WAIT WAIT....in E46s if you press the defroster, itll kick in full, but then i just use the fan speed button to bring it down....i dont know if you can do that with your car..

Nope, when you lower the fan the defrost feature turns off. So lets say you have the fan on "3 bars" and then you press defrost, it goes full blast, and then when you try to adjust the fan setting in anyway, it goes back to "3 bars"
