Hi all... am newbie here. Need some advice from members here.

My 2005 760LI's warranty will expire in 20 days. So I've been offered the BMW Original Owner Protection Program warranty by my BMW dealer - 7 yrs/70,000 miles for $5,800. (It's really a warranty for 3yrs/32,000 miles as you would deduct the 4 yrs mfg warranty and I've already put in 38,000 miles).

Is this a fair price or does anyone have a better warranty recommendations?

1. That is really expensive, do the 7's break that often?

BMWcartoon> update. I did a bit of searching and found a much lower price for the exact same warranty from Southbay BMW for $3,825.00. Ask for the Costco price.

The $5800 I quoted above was from Crevier in Santa Ana. Crevier is such a ripoff.

As to whether the car has a lot of problems, it does have a lot of electronic errors, given such a complex piece of machinery. And I have been taking the car in for these repairs every 6 mths or so, hence, my inclination to have extended warranty.

Any 7 series is expensive, no matter what. Just because it is a 7, you are going to pay more than a 5 or 3. Add in all the electronics and you are going to fix something. A coworker of mine had a 2001 740il w/ the M package and he told me that every time he went in for service it was at least $1200. Might be worth it. You should definitely get some sort of extended warranty.

Warranty Extended

I am buying a 2006 750Li and the current owner purchased the BMW extended warranty for maintenance to 100,000 miles and parts to 150,000 miles with a $250 deductable for $6,000 from BMW Northwest in Fife WA. Car has 55,000 miles and I am sure the time will run out before I ever get to the maximum miles.

CanyonCreekMT> Just a note of advice, there is a difference between the 'maintenance' program and the BMW Original Owner Protection Program. The maintenance program only covers basic services such as oil/filter change. Make sure you have the original owner protection program as well as that covers most repairs.

That is what I have and it covers parts and repairs with a $250 deductible with seven years or 150,000 miles. Maintenance is to 1000,000 miles. Waranty is transferable to new owner with a $50 charge to transfer.

Seems like a reasonable price, but make sure that you are going with a legitimate company. I have heard some horror stories about the bad ones. I found this article about BMW extended warranties, maybe it will help.

I like it rational price is BMW , but I see the horror move film & horror stories about the bad ones. but make sure that you are going with a legitimate company.
