Hey guys, i found an old 325IS from 88 wondering what yall thought about getting an older bmw such as an 88 325is and tuning it up. Or would it simply be better to get a newer like a 95 and go from there? Any advice.
what do you mean better? there is a better chance a newer 3series will come out faster, but nothing compares to the E30 in handling for the money (yes the E36's can have equally great handling, but you could have track ready E30 for less than a stock E36)
Ah, well i've made up my mind to get an 88-90 325is lol, now all i have to do is find one it seems like all of the ones i've seen so far are white or red :-/ and automatic lol, Can you guys reccomend any mods that i could do to it when i finally get one
I mentioned this in another post, but my buddy has an E30 325, and he swapped in a US Spec M3 engine/Tranny from a '95 M3, custom exhaust, got the suspension all tricked out.. It's definitely a killer car. He races autocross with it. He ran a 13.6 (i believe)in the quarter, but that was on street tires. To give you an idea of how little traction he had off the line, that was on a 3 second 60' time. :goodness:
i say as far as first mods, get some cat-back exhuast and intake the basics, then go for a nice set of either springs/shocks or coilovers, rims with nice tires are a must too! then look into your header, chip and all that good stuff!
