ok not like anyone cares, but on the way home today i decided to race a boxter S, jsut for fun, obvioulsy i was losing untill i reached 100 that guy was being a sissy and wouldnt go more, so i zoom past him at like 125, then like a min or too later hes way back in my rear view so i cruise down to 80mph. then he slowy pulls up to me, gets going my speed and downshifts and blasts off lets me catch up, again. the guy like cant drive, he dont know whats double cluthicng, he did this like severaltimes and finally we got to lights, (we were in an area of no lights for about 2-3 miles.) and we were both weaving through , trafic, since he sucked, i could keep up with him pretty good, holy shit that guy is hard on his car. first off he was shioving into down gears w/o doublt clutch and when we were going in the traffic lots of gear changes and sisnce its a convertible i can see his hands, and its like i can tell hes forces teh shifter around, u dont have to do that to be fast shifter. i wasnted to tell him learn to shoft/double clutch but then my turn came. also he was being a sissy and wouldnt take curves more than like 75 and i took at like 100.

I know this has been discussed before...but...what is double clutching again?

You're saying something about double clutching to drop it in 4th and whatnot.

Double shifting is when you in the proces of shifting drop the clutch in nuetral and the push it back in and continue to shift to get the trany up to speed, usually for weak clutchs and what not...
which brings me to my next point why should he have been double clutching? there's no reason for him to.

, the boxter S is still a porsche and driving it hard is near impossible , the car was made for it (well sort of it still is debated if the boxter is a real porsche)

which brings me to my next point why should he have been double clutching? there's no reason for him to.
if u want to down form a top gear into a low gear a speed off, its faster if u get ur revs up during neutral instead of waiting for teh sunchros, its also easir on them ie, 70 in top, down to 3nd, ur balsting into high rpms, ur synchros wil lnot let it cathc untill speeds are matched, wasting time. also a smootehr ride. u dont HAVE to anymore with cars earlier than like 30 years old but like i said, it makes it smoother shift, and keeps the synchros life longer. i swear i give that guy like 3-5 years before a burnout. atleast on a regular clutch.

do you think that someone wealthy enough to own a porsche is going to care about a freakin' clutch ?

so.for double clutching is it done while i have the clutch in. i should rev up the engine to an aproximate speed then put it into gear and let off the clutch. right?... or do i put in the clutch, put it in nuetral, let off the clutch, then put it in and shift?

yes you clutch in put in neutral then take clutch out rev as you put clutch back in and then put it into gear. As has been said before this is pointless unless you have lost your synchros and even then it's only needed while downshifting with no synchros.

works kinda like a stall in an automatic tranny. keep it in neutral until your revs reach your engines peak hp curve than let off on the clutch. a lot of autocrossers do it to keep their revs in the engines peak hp/tq band. either way the boxster s is faster than the 325 (if stock).

Ah, your wife getting a 330cic then.. My wife has the same facelift your wife is getting, they're nice cars, she'll enjoy it- especially if she gets the manual.
Corvette isn't too bad, Z06 did well. I used to have a Zr1 back in '91, but got rid of it, because it couldn't be serviced since it had a Lotus engine.
-You ever driven a Porsche? Sensational sports cars....
