BMW is working on a more powerful, capable, and lighter X5 M.

Spy photographers recently caught the high-performance crossover testing in Sweden, as the German automaker readies the fourth-generation model. The 2019 BMW X5 is rumored to make its debut this summer, so expect the X5 M not to be far behind with a debut before the end of the year. Under the hood should be the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine found in the 2018 BMW M5, generating around 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is a given for the high-performance crossover, although it’s unclear if BMW will give it the ability to be completely rear-wheel drive like the M5.
