I have almost 200,000 miles on my 2000, 740il.
I recently had the O2 censors replaced. Now my mechanic tells me that I need to replace my ABS module. $700?
My car goes in and out of failsafe mode depending on how high my rpms are. My speedometer, temp gauge and other dashboard reading go out depending on how high my rpms get.
I got the idea that since these are all electric that it had to do with my battery. So I threw on a drip charger. That didnt work.
I'm wondering what the source of my problems is and the best way to go about finding out.
Please Please give me your input
Philip

Open the OBC and see what the voltage reading is, it maybe your battery is duff, give it an overnight charge off the car....if that doesn't fix it it may well be the LKM on its way out are all the head lights operating ok?? so my best guesses are

1. The battery needs replacing

2. The LKM is on its way out but I doubt it

Those codes say its the ABS control module at fault Im afraid, you can get them rebuilt which is the cheapest option, if you buy a 2nd hand one you will have to get it coded to the car only at BMW....I dont know where you can get it rebuilt as Im over the other side of the pond...but we have companies here that do it so you must have some there..
