Thnx...

I am looking for a rommie comfy car for my wife... and she's crazy about the 528i.. I have seem one with Sports package on it (an E39)

My question is because I would like to know if this is one of those cars that have to go tothe shop constantly... I now it most likely depends on the way you treat it, but an overall input from you guys.. who are the pros at BMW... would be gratly appreciated
The E39 528 is not known for a lot of problems, especially if the car has been taken care of. Just make sure you get one with a warranty just in case. I owned my 540 without a warranty and learned a lesson, never own a BMW without a warranty, its very expensive when it does come time to fix them.
deffinately get the sport package on the 528i's, that way you get the deep-dish 17" wheels otherwise you will get some pretty crummy 15 or 16" cross-spoke wheels. It should come standard with ASC traction control, but other than that, and a few other things, its really nothing special, but hey its still a bmw :) stretch for the 540i if u can B)
i do like the look of the 5 series, if i had one it would have to be a n M5 though.....
Yeah, the 540i is the shit! I love it, so much acceleration (for me). The 4.4 V8 is not as smooth as the I6, but it is not off by much. The ONLY thing I dont like about the E39 is the thick A-pillars, and the headrests in the rear, I cant see out the rear very well. Thats about it. I heard the sport package's suspension was significantly stiffer(rougher ride), but to tell you the truth, the stock suspension is not bad at all. Very little body roll, you cant feel too much at all. It is such a great car!!!
