I have a 1992 520i e34, the fan blower of the climate control only works when is turned to its maximum and I get maximum fan speed. Lower speeds there's no fan. Looked first how to remove the CTRL panel but seems to need to remove the all console?
Could be the fan motor switch resistor dead if there is any.
1) How to remove the console?
2) Where are the resistors or others to fix for that trouble?

Can any one tell me where the resistor is on my 90 525. I dont have acess to the manual.

For your info, I removed the all console to reach the climate ctrl panel and after checking the fan rotary sw, there is no resistor in there!
It's only a selector with different contacts.
Today I go to see on the fans side, rear of engine bay...
Doesn't need to loose time working in the car, waste of time!

If you Google "1992 bmw 520i blower resistor" compare the images to the items you see there. All I know is the resistors are not easy to find; I remember from changing mine some years ago.

In fact no problem at the fan. Just oiled the bearings, and reinstalled.
The problem was a bad contact in the resistor box. The overheat system..!

Cleanned and everything back to normal.

1992 525 AC/Heater Not Blowing
OK, I have just about tried everything. At first I changed my blower motor because it was making some messed up sounds and then it finally went out. I then got a new AC compressor and drier and everything worked great both the AC and Heater ran for a good year.

Finally the blower motor stopped blowing again, I have a new blower motor so I know that is not it. My AC works fine I see the light go on and hear it engage, even some cold air seeps through.

I read to change the springy looking resistor pack witch I have done but no luck, I have also searched out the sword resistor but my model does not have that.

This is the weird part, I turn the car on and then turn the dial for the fan switch and I hear behind the speedo instrument cluster a 3-4 buzzing sounds then it stops. Sounds like something wants to turn on but does'nt.

Anyone know what is left to change, is there another resistor or relay that it could be.

well, I just pulled apart the dash on the driver side and found the noise, Its a little dial motor that runs something machanicaly so I don't think that is my problem.

Maybe I will try and pull the blower motor out again and see if it is burnt out again, I am sure that I changed the resistor pack last time I changed the blower motor.

Last time my blower was running it started to slow down and run intermitantly from high speed to low speed. Sometimes when hitting bumps in the road would make it run good and then when I shut the car off it would run slow or not at all.

I sometimes would have to bang the passenger side of the console to get it to run.

It may be you're looking for a loose/bad connection.

Hey a little progress...So it's not my blower motor.

I have no sword so I removed the blue resistor pack on the driver side and beet on it a few times. I then pluged it bake in and still nothing.

What does work is, if I bang on the passenger side where the sword would be the blower tries to go on but not fully,, I can change the control knob to 1,2,3 and bang on it and nothing, the only time the blower tries to work is when i bang on that side and the knob is on 4th speed.

So is this a symptom of the resistor pack or something else.

Any Ideas????

Just wanted to post back because I have found my problem.

I found a vent under the passenger side where I can see part of the blower, I tried to give it a quick spin to see if it would start spinning, It didn't work, I then again stuck a long screwdriver up the hole and tried to wiggle the blower motor to see if it was a connection problem. Wow it started spinning.

Anyways, The problem was that I replaced the original Blower motor with a used one, I forgot it was used so I didn't think there was a problem with the blower. Oh well the blower had worn out brushes, I was able to get the brushes to make contact and reinstalled the blower motor. I'm not sure how much longer the brushes will last, Hopefully through the summer.

It might be smart to get a new blower instead because the Used blowers have a short life due to the brushes already been worn down.
