18, 19, or 20 inch rims for my E36?

Universal doesn't mean what it says ... there's a million different bolt patterns ... 5x100 5x112 5x120 ... you need 5x120; that can't have everything so unless it says it does, universal might as well mean "wont fit your car".
Anyway, I've seen 19s on a e36 but they look huge ... 18 is probably the largest I'd personally go. As for 20s ... I can't remember ever seeing a e36 with such big wheels so you could be the first. :dunno

All around the web you'll find that the general consensus is to never go above 18's. Anything bigger and people have started having problems. My recommendation is to go with 17's. Still a huge difference from stock, but with a better ride quality than 18's (and cheaper tires). That is what I did on my E36.

I had 18's on my car for one month......& the car's ride was shit! They felt much too heavy,
The car did not grab the road like it did with 17's.....high speeds on curves were scary!
Just much happier with the 17's, & like
denyo says......drive the car like it suppose to be driven!
drz......hit the nail on the head & I experienced it first hand! The ride was horrible!!!

I don't think those will fit if they came off a 530i like the ad says. I always forget, but I believe that the offset is outside of teh spec that fits on the 3 series.
Oh, and in my opinion, very rarely does chrome look good.

The wheels you posted are a) overpriced because the tires will absolutely not fit so you'll just throw them away or sell them (and who buys used to tires for any considerable money anyway?)
b) will need smaller, stretched tires as the offset brings them a lot further to the outside of the car ... if you don't know what you're doing and what offsets are and how that all works, it's pretty much gonna be trial and error and that's expensive.
