All around the web you'll find that the general consensus is to never go above 18's. Anything bigger and people have started having problems. My recommendation is to go with 17's. Still a huge difference from stock, but with a slightly better ride quality than 18's (and cheaper tires). That is what I did on my E36.

I don't think those will fit if they came off a 530i like the ad says. I always forget, but I believe that the offset is outside of teh spec that fits on the 3 series.
