128---I've only had it for a little over a week, and I didn't want to get too over-zealous yet. SMOKED a V-6 Accord! She shouldn't have blown by me at 100 dammit!

155 mph in the Zhp. could have gone more, was only at 5,800k rpms in 6th.
But don't need to attract unwanted attention from the police.

Found a website (Topspeed) that says my car tops out at 154. Now I have no need to do it because I know!

161 mph in the S3R-M3 (heck the first owner took us 155 mph no sweat in 4th gear with the vert weight, me and the wifey on board AND the hard top on - FTMFW!). 6th gear is not even half broken in on the car (need to sustain at least 130 mph+ or car starts to rebel... ) and I learn new secrets to it evrytime I hang out with him! He claims 180+ several times and capabilities well beyond that. I'll need a track folks, as Escort hard-wired or not, I'm scared of the cops at insane speed, not to mention civilians. First owner did get caught at upper 150's and did a night in jail for it. SCARY. It is ridiculous to feel that smooth power though, AND have it taking off on you...

As to the SC - Z3 Roadster - 145 mph on a public road.

I haven't pushed teh zhp -- I doubt I have even taken it to 100mph. No good places to do that here in the DFW. Back in AR, I routinely took my E36 328i to 125mph+ indicated.

What about a rental? With that opportunity it would be worth it!

Rentals are scary unreliable as they are beaten badly by everyone who does not give a damn about them as they are not their cars. The high end rentals, such as those you'd get for the 'Ring, are super expensive. Not an easy solution...

PS - GOD I wanna take my M3 over and turn her loose, pass the whole country, the usual...

@Roadster - hell yeah, i bet you'd have a great time racing the station wagons that haul ass around here...lol. but seriously, that's who's always going the fastest, the freakin Mercedes station wagons...

most of the german rentals are brand new...

i've rented several car...Audi A3, BMW 116d, Chrysler 300Cd, Jetta's...and soon an M6...

they don't rent the M6 until summer time.

anyway most of these car didn't have much over 200 km on them...brand new.

Hey man - a Benz is a Benz baby!

If you can get a great rental at a cheap price - by all means, that sounds awesome! I'd Look forward to the M6 next Summer...
