17 pin or 40 pin plug

Hi I have a 2003 BMW E39 535i in Australia and I am trying to change the satnav to a chinese one and am having alot of trouble communicating with the chinese lady she tells me that I need to know if it has a 17 or 40 pin plug could someone please tell me where this plug is supposed to be. Thankyou
