E 12 (525) Hood Mech Help

Dear Members,

Hello, I am new to this forum and am considering buying a 1974/75 525 series sedan that has a few needs. One of them is the hood mechanism does not seem to work properly. The hood opens, but remains in a closed position. I have to pull from the front end and have someone else pull up from one of the sides to open the hood. At closing, the hood just falls to place and closes. I understand that there is a two step process for this and I think the mechanism is messed up somewhere (a spring or something) and was hoping someone could explain or help with the part number to fix this.

Many thanks in advance.

Sad that no one could be bothered to answer you here

Looks like you were just missing a couple of small gas struts but I guess if you did buy the car you'd have it fixed by now

My daily is a Mitsubishi HSGR (but I wouldn't mind an e34 525i)
