Just registered here to get a quick opinion from you guys..
My '04 Z4 roof would not go down all the way into it's 'down position' today. Basically, it kind of got stuck before it would go down, just behind the headrests.
I kept the button pressed down, but it just stayed there.. It closes fine, and went back into it's latch as normal. I tried it 3 times, and it was the same each time. There's nothing in the trunk at all, so it's not a blockage or anything.
Any help or advice? That would be very much appreciated.
hey guys im having the same problem, i spoke to my BMW dealer who needs to hook it up to the Diagnostic's as they beleive it is a hyraulic pump problem, ive done some homework on the internet and have found that it is a major problem if this is the cause. £2000 i noticed in one case as the labour charge involved in removing and refitting the roof is sky high!, appartently water damage is cause to the pump and a gasket is required to stop this in future, other means of fault were micro switches... i believe there is a viewing resivoir for the hydraulic fluid in the boot/trunk but cannont find it.
if any body has a good discription of images, of where to locate or other possible causes please let me know!
Many thanks guys as im gutted about this problem and potential cost!!!!
Just thought I'd say that I took my Z4 to a non BMW dealer, who fixed the problem in 3 seconds... it was actually just one of handles in the luggage compartment that had been accidently flipped into the 'up' position.
I must have done this when I was putting a large suitcase in there. It gives you a very small amount of more space, but means that you can't put the roof down properly.
Anyway, just thought I'd tell you to check these first, as I've spoken to BMW dealers before, and they'd love to take £2,000 off you even if it's not needed (just my personal opinion, maybe my experience is biased.. whatever).
Hope it's as simple for you as it was for me! Good luck.
