Z4 Rack & pinion PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi, My Z4 went off the highway and then my steering made a rubbing noise when taking slow turns, Took it to an "approved" insurance shop. They replaced the rack & pinion, but then called and said the wheels would not turn. So they sent my old rack out & had it redone. Now they called and said its very very tight & hard to turn, and they have no clue whats going on. Do they have to reset the steering? Or do they have to replace the computer? Im scared they screwed up the steering by forcing the first rack & pinion. Please any help????

Not sure if related... but they also replaced my front strut mounts.

What about the tie rods? Theirs way more to steering and suspension then just the steering rack. If they replaced your shock mounts did they do an alignment?

They have yet to do the alignment, they just installed the part and it feels very tight, I would think they would have to reset the computer? But perhaps they need to do an alignment first & then test it?

Why would they reset the computer? The computer has nothing to do with mechanical steering. Tie rods, control arms will need to be looked at to make sure their was no damage.

Well.. I was told that my computer might have to be replaced... Today they came back & said some steering sensor is getting replaced.

I hope your not paying for that. A rubbing noise would indicate the wheel is out of alignment or the fender is damaged. If the wheel is out of alignment do to driving off the highway I doubt a sensor or the computer was damaged. I truly believe its mechanical not electrical based on what you have said. Obviously I'm not their so I can't tell for sure, but I have never heard of them saying a computer needs to be replaced over this.
