Z3 Exterior Mirror replacement

I have a 1997 Z3 and the both outside mirrors are corrodeing. It is the only part of the car where the paint is bad. The dealership wants $350 for each mirror plus installation. Any other alternatives?

Do the covers come off ? as most BM ones do, light sand down,with fine paper, under coat x 1, top coat x 3, lacquer coat x1.

Even if the backs dont come off , mask up the area around and spray them on the car.
