z 3 5speed transmission info

I bought a z 3 a few months ago. When i put it in 1st gear it kicks out and sounds terrible. The car will not move at all in first. It starts off and drives excellent in 2nd gear, and all the other gears are fine. I have driven the car like this 1000 miles at least and so did the previous owner. Im sure its cheaper to find a used gear box rather than replace a syncro and possibly first gear. What input can you guys give me on prices of trans parts,and what cars retro fit this z3. What dlrs give you guys mail order discounts.Or does anyone here have the parts to fix or a trans to sell.I have friends who can help with the labor. This car is a blast and the mileage, 175k and the missing 1st gear did not scare me. The top and many parts are new. This car is a keeper joe

go to a mechanic and let him take out ur gear box and check it maybe its fixable otherwise buy a used gearbox
