removing kidney grill - BMW Forum

i have a 97 z3 that has a black and a chrome kidney grill. i just bought on ebay a set of chrome grills that i want to put on. i am not sure how to remove the old ones. i was told by a local repair shop to be very careful that i don't break any clips removing the old ones. i really don't find any clips as the two grills currently in place seem to only have moulded in plastic clips, of which the two new ones have as well. any suggestions?

It's relatively easy to do. With a decent amount of force hit the centre of the grille where the "fins" are. This will pop the grille loose and allow it to be pulled out. It took me four or five times to do it cause I didn't hit it hard enough. Not too hard but a good firm wack with your fist. This is how I did it on my E36.
