New Z3 Owner... got a couple questions.

Got the new car a couple weeks ago, and I love it

It's a Violet 97 with tan interior and top. Completely stock.

I know it's due for an oil change soon and the light is going to come on. I also know there's a way to clear the light with jumping a couple pins in that round connector under the hood. Does anyone have the info on this?

I also know I need a certain wrench to change the oil filer. It's the 1.9L. Anyone know the size offhand so I can pick it up?

..and as long as I'm at it, what the oil capacity is?


The stock stereo is a component setup with the tweeters in the doors and mids in the kick panel area. Does anyone know if this uses a factory crossover, or is it all run through the stock radio? I'm also wondering if the factory sub is amped, or is it through the radio?

It has the usual sagging glove box... what does everyone normally do to fix it?

And I can't figure out the clock and temperature display for the life of me! Sometimes it shows the temp when I start the car and sometimes it shows the clock. When it shows the temp, I can press the clock button and it switches over, but nothing changes it back to show temperature!? The button labeled "S/R" doesn't seem to do anything at all. The only way it goes back to temp is to just wait a few starting cycles until it decides to go back.

It seems like a front wheel bearing may be on the way out... is this a common problem?

5th gear seems a little too tight to shift into. Are there replaceable bushings that could help?

Congratulations on your new purchase. I can't answer your other questions, but I can tell you that I needed to replace my driver's side front bearing at 55,000 miles, which I didn't expect. Then, like you, my ears told me how the stock stereo really wasn't suburb, so I replaced that. Then, I purchased a Z3 windscreen (windblocker). Those two purchases made the car, at least for me.
