help please - is it major

Hi please help ,

i have a 2003 z4 2.5l - after driving down the motorway and stopping in traffic a burning smell came into the cabin (not a clutch smell) - this smell comes through the vents when stationary due to the smell building up in the engine compartment - has any one had a similar thing happen - i have checked for things tuck or melting to hot engine parts (none obvious)
could it be a bearing going on my timimg belts ( i have only done 25kmiles)

please help or give advice

thankss

jay

Have a look for oil leaks around and near the exhaust side of the engine.

You don't have timing belts, you have a timing chain.

I had this problem once. I was buzzing to a meeting 90 minutes away on the interstate. Got stopped in traffic for a tractor trailer crash. While sitting, I noticed a rubber burning kind of smell.

On the way home, my fan/AC/generated/water pump belt disentegrated. Had to get a tow home $$$.

Check your hoses too. Don't be afraid to give them a hard squeeze and a solid tug. Make sure none of them are laying on a manifold, a pulley or something else that burn or cut them.
