When I'm driving in snow the rear of truck moves back and forth like it is trying to stabilize itself. I just replaced the rear two tires and they worn out on the inside edges, which is chamber or toe adjustment or just the fact that you can't rotate them. Anyways I have the sport package which came with the 19" wheels on it and I wondering if that could be part of the problem. I think the alignment is off and that is the major cause. I will take it in and have them look at it. If anyone has any ideas, it would be helpful.

A major problem could be the wheels themselves. The camber on all bmw's, let alone the x5, will wear out tires on the inside edge first.
What kind of tires do you have? You said you have the sport package - I'm not sure about the x5 in particular, but usually sport-packaged cars come with high-performance summer tires; notoriously bad and downright deadly to drive in snow.
I just replace the rear with what was on it. Next year I am changing it all to steel rims and skinny tires for the winter.

I have driven my M3 in snow and it is more controlable. I'm going to have to take it in. I think that the rears are so tilted in (postive chamber) that it is causing the on board computer to think that it is sliding out of control. I notice when I am driving on dry roads that it seems to grab the cracks and pull the vehicle into them. I want to have the alignment checked, but the dealer wants $160. Anyone have any ideas on where else I could take it for an aligment?

Tramlining... Test out those winter tires first, and those can make a HUGE difference... if they don't... you say you've been driving your m3 in winter; a good effort, so I'm beginning to think it isn't your tires.
I have only had to drive the M3 a few times in winter to get it from one storage to the next, but let me tell you, it is not fun. I have noticed on the X5 that the tires seem to grab the road funny when I am driving on groved highways. I guess that I will wait till next winter and get snow tires and rims. It is almost time to put the X5 away and drive the M3 anyways.

Tires, sumer tyres should not know what snow is like. Just get some all-seasons unless you really want a sporty ride in the summer and grippy one when it snows...
Just thowing this out there, DSC Freaks out in deep snow and makes the vehicle more difficult to handle...when I leave my driveway (which NEVER gets plowed) I turn my DSC off.
