Lights out on X3!!!

Just came back from a short errand at dusk. With 31 K miles on my X3, I now started having intermitant headlight problems. While behind another car trying to cross an intersection, the lights went on and off twice before staying on all the way home. In my drive way, I tried to replicate what had previously happened. Sure enough, while stopping to turn in and then starting into the driveway, the headlights went out......and stayed out all the way into the garage. The only thing working were the dash lighting and parking lights. After unloading the bags, I started the car again and the headlights worked.

This is not just disturbing....it's down right serious and dangerous. The X3 is going in first thing in the morning and I expect an immediate fix. Why do I get the sinking feeling that they won't be able to address the problem until it happens at the dealership. That being the case, perhaps they can keep the car and let the service manager drive the car with his family in it at night for a week.

Of the countless cars of all varieties I have owned over 44 years, the X3 has the dubious honor of being the first vehicle with intermitant headlight failure.

Lights on!

Hat's off to the local BMW boys.....they did extensive diognostics and in the end, found a bad bracket under the hood that probably dates back to the
build date. Problem solved. They replicated my problem! Nice job.

Ohhhhhhh......yah. Love the Bullit. Discs and 7 " of travel and about 40# may not be fast, but it climbs and drops just fine. I hardly use my race bike anymore....then again, I don't race anymore. :^)

I know how that goes...I rarely throw a leg over my bike these days. I spend all my spare time behind the wheel of my Bimmer! That Bullit is a helluva' machine though, they climb like a cross country bike, and descend like a banshee! In this case, it's the only time I'd ever say that I love 7" in the rear.

around here its not needed, I rode a full suspension bike a few times, it sucked up some really steep hills, but was fun riding over huge rocks and jumping stuff
