x5 4.4i - engine noise - BMW Forum

Hi guys,
I just bought a used 2005 x5 with 4.4i v8 engine. It just came off the 4-yr free maintenance program and still has 21 months of CPO warranty on it. The car is super clean and has been very well maintained. I got all the service records. The only thing that's bothering me a little is the very raspy engine noise when i accelerate at low speeds - when the car is stopped and i push on the gas to get going, the engine noise is really loud and feels very rough and raspy. I think this mainly happens when the gearbox is in 1st and 2nd. When i get above 30mph, the engine noise goes away and the engine feels very smooth. I am not sure whether this is normal and whether that's what the 4.4i v8 engine is supposed to sound like (i never had a v8 before). I also have a 325i with the inline 6 engine and its much smoother in comparison.
I might take the car to the shop for an inspection just to make sure everything is okay but wanted to see beforehand if other people have any thoughts and/or same problem.

i have same car and i had same problem.
and probably that noise comes from vanos system.
