My NEW 2011 LOADED X5!

It has been properly brought to my attention that I failed to, after a brief announcement, post any pictures or details of my latest family addition, a 2011 X5, replacing the too small E90 which is now gone. So - without further ado - here are the details and some pics...(sorry, attached thumbnails only as I am at werk). Lets you verbally control numerous navigation system functions, record up to five minutes of notes, and dial phone calls hands-free.

Navigation system

Navigation system with iDrive and Real Time Traffic Information - convenient functions at your fingertips.

Online Information Services

Park Distance Control

Park Distance Control uses eight sensors-four in the front, four in the rear - to help you judge how close you are to other cars and unseen objects when parking. While engaged in a parking maneuver, the image on the screen visually changes and warning beeps come faster as the bumper approaches a stationary object, turning into a constant tone when the distance is less than 12 inches.

Real Time Traffic Information

Rear View Camera with Top View

Rear-view camera is activated automaticallyby shifting into reverse gear, or manually by pressing the parking-assist button. The color display shows a real camera image that may include "static" and "track" lines
to help you when backing up or parallel parking. The camera also has zoom functions, and a "docking line" that helps guide your approach to the towing hitch of a trailer.

Convenience Package

Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors

Automatic-dimming rear-view mirror senses the bright headlights of vehicles behind you, and automatically darkens. Exterior power-folding side-view mirrors automatically dim when reflecting bright lights, helping to eliminate glare when driving at night.

BMW Assist with Bluetooth

Lumbar support

Power lumbar support in the front seats adds four-way adjustable comfort for the lower back - it can be adjusted up/down and in/out.

4-zone automatic climate control

Lets front and rear-seat occupants select their own temperature and fan settings.

Universal garage-door opener

BMW Universal transceiver takes the place of up to three remote-control devices. It can activate remote functions outside the vehicle, such as garage-door openers or home-lighting systems.

Digital compass mirror

The easy-to-read digital compass, integrated into the mirror is a convenient way to constantly keep your bearings while driving.

Power tailgate

Helps loading and unloading in inclement weather or when you are carrying bulky items. Simply press a button to open or close the upper tailgate (Sooo kewl!). The X5also has handy automatic "open" and "close" buttons on the tailgate. The safe-close system automatically stops if it encounters blockage.

Rear manual side window shades

Manual roller sunblind for rear side windows help keep the sun's heat and glare out of the passenger compartment while providing privacy for rear-seat passengers. The blinds also create a comfortable environment for sleeping infants and children.

Ambiance lighting

Silver running boards

AND A PARTIDGE IN A PEAR TREE...! Happy now...??? Whew. But seriously - it is totally awesome, like a private cruise ship - just WOW (and 300/300 is PLENTY for this truck, I have other cars for super power )

Well, there it is and now y'all know the details (other than my dealer friend who I know 8 years before he was a BMW dealer sold me the truck at barely over their invoice, thereby costinig me only $120 a month more than the entry level 2007 E90 sedan! FTMFW! )

Oh the baby-mobile is locked and loaded! His seat is in the CENTER of the rear (to my mind making both big back seats a wee bit small- think I'd like one side or the other better - plus center location blocks access via folding seat to 3rd row (hardly got to see/play with that thing...). Crap I don't even know 30% of the gadgetry on this puppy! Can't wait to play with headlight washers and LOVE the guidelines and rear cameras! She drives great too! We nearly hit a raccoon on the way home from upstate last Tuesday night - fucker was right in the middle of the 2 lane main road - with 3 Cara coming at us so nowhere to go. I tried to straddle him and maybe it worked - no mess, no nothing..

Anyway - need this truck badly - and better like it - baby mobile kinda takes over 90% of the trips/drives. I did notice my M3 has the same baby friendly seat clips for easy use when the time comes. For now - I'm very psyched it drives great! Even the new i-Drive is not bad at all - WAAY better than the old versions - FTW! YAY. More quality pics soon!

Yeah and way more power and options too! I was very pleasantly surprised as I had to go big and of course wanted to stay in the Family! We really zeroed in on the Vermillion Red - initially thinking black leather interior for the kid but sand beige looks great and with a lease, no worries at all! The only thing we wanted different was the dark Burl (reddish matched car a teeny bit better) wood trim instead of the dark bamboo that's in there). We also didn't need the 3rd row yet (cool at times mind you, but 0-3 years there are not too many little league games to bring him and friends to! Overall, drives and looks great, has every luxury - we are lovin' it! Thanks for the kind words all.

Because 300/300 is MORE than enough for the baby-mobile (which, with it's N55 turbo 6 is really VERY fast - the 4.4L V8 in the earlier X5 put out 315!). To get a twin turbo-V8 was competely unnecessary. Maybe if I didn't have the M3...

Valid points but God I love the sound of the BMW 8 when the driver gets into the gas
