I bought a used BMW DSP Radio Amplifier from EBay for my X5 that was in a BMW 7 series, I now need to re-code the amp for the X5. Does anyone know the steps to do it? My mechanic has a computer for the car but can't find where to re-code the amp on his computer. Does anyone know which menus he has to go into to do this? (There is no dealer where I live.)
the am needs to be coded? are you sure I've never heard of Needing to code an amp.... what year were both cars?

The X5 is 2001 and the amp came from a 1997 740il BMW. I put the amp in and the sound is very low and sounds bad. I read that the amp has to be coded for my X5 and it will sound ok once coded. It's the same Amp I had before and the same model number.
