2007 Aftermarket radio install

Hello,

The original radio in the car has always sounded bad. I'm in the process of replacing the radio that is HD and has sirius radio to make the wife happy. within the next couple of months I'll be installing the amplifier and new speakers.
I was ready to install the new radio, wired the new harness to the radio harness, but when testing, I get no sound. I see the radio is picking up the station, the bars on the radio indicate that the radio is working, but the speakers are dead quite.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Did you re-wire, or use an adaptor harness?
If you re-wired then this may be your issue...

I using this harness (Metra 70-9003 (met-709003) Wiring Harness for Select 2002-2007 BMW/VW Vehicles) it's pretty stupid friendly.... so I thought.

Yellow – 12V Constant
Red – 12V Accessory
Black - Ground
Orange – Dash Light Dimmer/Illumination
Green – Left Rear Speaker (+)
Green with Black Stripe Left Rear Speaker (-)
White – Left Front Speaker (+)
White with Black Stripe – Left Front Speaker (-)
Purple – Right Rear Speaker (+)
Purple with Black Stripe – Right Rear Speaker (-)
Gray – Right Front Speaker (+)
Gray with Black Stripe – Right Front Speaker (-)

Hmmm but does it match your H/Unit? You can get specific ones...

yes it does, I checked and double checked the wiring with the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X995 harness. It matches perfectly.

Could be a ground/earth issue matey? (speaker-wise)

You should have the din power socket and another containing more wires (Speakers), try swapping a few on the speaker block (keep to combos tho)...
