want to start off right

Hi all, i jst picked up an 06 certified pre-owned 325xi, with 16,000 on it. It looks really sharp,I want to keep it that way. i live in the northeast u.s., with winter coming, and all the salt / snow / grit ect. coming. So the question is how do I protect it?
Should I wax it now? seal it now? nothing? I am assuming it was detaile prior to me getting it, it looks sharp, but i have no idea what they did
should i take it to the car wash to get a good cleaning, then wax or seal it? wash it my self?
and what to use? I was leaning toward mcguirs.

may be have one of those invisable bra things put on it. The guy that i got my e38 off of had one on the porsche it took awhile to figure out what it was

Put it away for the winter and buy a second car
