Is this normal????

Up in Mildura over Christmas where it was reasonably hot (38c) . The car was parked out in the direct sun for most of the day so it was almost too hot to even open the door. I moved it into the shade and let it cool for about 10 minutes, and then started to lightly spray it with water in preperation to wash it. When I started to use a soft brush on the end of the hose and worked my way round to the rear of the car I noticed that almost the entire BMW logo seperated from the metal base. I have washed the car by hand previously without any issues, and can only assume that it was some sort of heat related issue. Just wondering if anyone else had seen this before?

So now I am looking at something to replace the roundels, and i'm toying with something like
to go on

What's the consensus, go original or the Carbon Fibre look?

I've had them crack days after putting them on; they don't seem like they take to any sort of weather changes too well ... I can definitely see it separating from being hot as hell and then getting hit with water.

I'd go original. I'm all for modding everything, but I somehow like the original roundel the way it is.

I have a full set of the items you have in your pic, they have been on approx 2years now with no issues, they have been in tempratures ranging from -10 and up to +40 ,steam cleaned, polished etc etc....they still look as good as the day I put them on.

Next question, what is the best way to remove the current badges without damaging the paintwork around and underneath it?

I got mine from eBay UK, I think the whole lot came to approx 50.00, They are fixed by 2 pins on the rear of the roundel which go in to 2 rubber/nylon grommets, the pins are horizontal across the middle of the roundels, get a flat blade with a cloth under to protect the paint work and lever up from the sides (middle line) where the pins are gently after its up a little way you can pull directly up/out with your fingers both sides of the roundel at the same time......

Is the pin arrangement for both the front and back roundels?
The 5 badge kit above is going for $105 AUS which is roughly 35-40 delivered.
Thanks for all of your input.
