I'm not sure if this was ever brought up but I think there are these plastic disks that you can insert behind the wheels (inbetween the rims and the disk brakes) that'll block the dust from hitting your wheel.... BUT then you won't see the brakes behind the wheels. I'm not sure if they'll fit BMW's but maybe they will....

Unless you change the compound of the pads then you'll always suffer. I said somewhere the other day the EBC pads are pretty 'rim friendly'.
Do you get residue from carbon disks?
