Hey all,

'99 540i seats look grimy, and some of the color is actually coming off the seats. I'd be okay about re-dying them, but want to make sure I get all the crap out of the grain first - Suggestions on getting seats REALLY clean, plus where to get the right color leather dye (if that's what I'm supposed to do) would be appreciated.

Also, Carpets are 'blotchy' and shampoo doesn't even things out. And there's one HUGE stain in the tan carpet that looks like a red permanent marker was left sitting there (about 1 inch x 3 inches). Can the carpet be re-dyed? I"ve tried a steam cleaner on it to no avail.

thanks!

Try checking out Leathermagic.com. I haven't used their products but you can get a feel for what is available. They have leather and carpet dyeing products.

I have actually cleaned and redyed my black leather seats.

Clean with 409 cleaner.

Used black shoe dye from Wal-mart.
After it dries it will not come off the seats.
Make sure you buy dye and not polish.

Looks great

I really like leatherique products. It is a two stage cleaner, preservative. They also sell dye if you still think you need it after a good cleaning. Patina is a good thing.
