As a new member of BimmerWerkz, I would like to give you a full introduction and brief summary of my qualifications. In short, I have a passion for detailing like others do for fine wine, woodworking, or music. This is what I live and breathe. It stands to reason, then, I might know what I am talking about.
My business, Apollo Detailing, has been around for nearly two full seasons now. For the most part, we concentrate on paint correction. Paint correction, briefly, is the process by which defects, swirls, and scratches are removed from the paint.
This is an example of a panel that has received paint correction. Note the vast difference between the corrected and the uncorrected sides.
I would bet that RoadsterMadness and I will be wanting a lead on a good detailer in the Brooklyn NY area.
I've done some research and here's a few options:
Detailer's Domain is in New Jersey. The owner's name is Phil. He's a detailing product retailer but does a lot of mobile detailing of his own. I'm not certain if he travels to New York City or not, however. In any case, he does great work.
RickRack & Rydawg are another option. Don't be scared off by the usernames. They are two of the best paint polishers in the world. I imagine its not cheap to take your car to them, but it would well be worth it. The only problem is, they are based at a shop in Burlington, MA.
Detailing Technology is another option. They are based in New York City and operate out of a garage. It's a single guy. He does fantastic work as well. Again, not cheap but well worth it.
What's your opinion of car wax against sun damage?
Regular maintenance is crucial to protecting the integrity of your paint and all exterior surfaces. Waxes are an integral part of maintenance. They form a bond to your paint and protect against bird bombs, acid rain, and the sun.
If a vehicle is properly maintained, it will always have an excellent appearance. Proper maintenance is the key to preventing clear coat failure as shown in this photo

I need a good detail person in the Sacramento region. I live in Auburn and just purchased a 1998 540i. I'd like to get the leather cleaned and conditioned and a great waxing. Is hand waxing better than buffing? Seems like some buffing actually mars the clear coat.
Also the mechanics left a minor but noticable scratch in the clear coat on one of the doors. Is it best to leave it be?
Also there is a bit of a pimple in the paint surface as if a wee bit of corrosion is occurring beneath. There is no visible sign, but could someone have painted over a boo-boo?
