Just bought an H2 after my Range Rover: in which I have invested over 12K in over the last three years on MANY new parts and upgrades, decided to eat it's engine on a cool day on the beach in the OBX.
That thing was nothing but a POS as far as I am concerned. It CONSTANTLY broke. The electronics were complete junk and it's off roading abilities were questionable at best.
My H2 on the other hand, is very well put together. It is VERY strong (322HP 360TQ) and rips through the beach on a very hot nasty day with the sand being VERY deep and very thick as a result of no rain in 3 weeks almost. There were trucks and SUV's of EVERY sort stuck out there. I do not exaggerate when I say I saw over 50 vehicles stuck DEEP in the sand as I blew by. I stopped several times and pulled out, 2 jeeps, 1 Disco, a couple Chevys and a LOT of fords. I made some serious money with my recently aquired H2.
Now please understand that this is not a grocery getter H2. It is used to get us to and from our beach house in the OBX of NC. We plan to move there full time next year and as such will need a very capable SUV. I plan to buy an H1 next spring. And I will live at the beach, and make my living pulling people out of the sand. The H2 could do it, but my wife would kick my ass! SO H1 is next on the list. And in all honesty, with out some modifications the H2 would have some problems pulling larger trucks out of the deep stuff where and H1 would pop it right out.
I'm not trying to start a flame war. I used to hate H2's as well. Until my Range Rover blew up and left us. My wife MADE me go and look at one. I checked it out with a serious chip on my shoulder. I nit picked alot and could find nothing wanting except for a bit more leg room. I drove it and it it great, runs fast and smooth, handles EXTREEMLY well in emegency situations which I found out this week and some fool SLAMMED on his brakes in front of me while we were on the highway going 60. I look up and there is a stopped car about 20 yards in front of me and I am going 60. I instaly looked right and THREW the steering wheel over! The truck heeled over a bit but it stayed planted VERY well and made the transition with out too much fuss. The Range Rover in a similar situation I think would have flipped over on it's side.
The gas mileage kills the Range Rover as well, I can get up to 18 MPG on the highway at 75-80MPH. In the city it is about the same and the RR was.
All in all i am very happy. I bought it used with 16K on the clock for my wife from the local dealer. She loves it, I am starting to love it and it has already made itslef a car payment in towing people out! I can't complain!
For all the haters out there, go out and drive one, take it off road. Like Dr. Seuss said, "Try try and you may I say"....

I'd debate the "questionable" off road abilities. My weak little 4.0 has gone through things modded/locked Jeeps had difficulty in.
As for the electronics, well, Lucas IS the Devil, plain and simple.
I just can't ever see paying full price for an H2 even with a warranty and such, but to each his own, and I'm glad yours is treating you well and that you didn't get stuck buying new and taking depriciation.

Yes, full price is stupid for most vehicles these days. But with gas prices the way they are these days, trucks are cheap! Mine is totally loaded out, minus all the chrome crap, and I got it for around 20 under list.
